A new business pack has been launched called "Safe Driving at Work".
This pack - the first of its kind in the country has been put together by a partnership group of road safety practitioners from South Yorkshire's local authorities as well as South Yorkshire's Police, Fire & Rescue, Safety Camera Partnership, Yorkshire Ambulance and assistance from Truswell Haulage.
The Pack helps businesses deal with managing occupational road risk by directing its readers to websites so that they can develop their own company's safe driving policies. It holds useful information on how to comply with the law, and reminds company directors that they have a moral as well as a legal duty to manage their employee's risk when they are on the road.
The pack has received approval from the Department of Transport, the Highways Agency, the Confederation of freight Operators and many more.
TWO DAF FTG CF85 460 TRACTOR UNITS
ONE DAF FAS CF75 310 RIGID with moffett mounty rough terrain forklift
This is the latest edition to the Truswell Haulage Truck-mounted rough terrain Forklift fleet. This particular machine carries 2.5 tons and what is unique is its ability to switch from a normal forklift into a reach-truck using its hydraulic multi-directional (4-way) facility, allowing the forklift to drive sideways.

The latest addition to the Truswell fleet is YJ08HMF fleet number 63. This is a DAF FASCF75 6 wheel rigid which has been specifically designed to work out of the steelworks in Rotherham. The body has removable stanchion posts to aid load security.

In February 2008 Truswell Haulage were awarded the prestigious title of TDG/Corus Platform Haulier of the year 2007. Kelvin Bulmer of TDG presented the award to Ian Truswell & Garry Hamer.
This award was in recognition of the excellent Truswell Haulage national service levels during 2007, and the seamless introduction of Truswell Haulage to the Dalzell/Clydebridge sites as lead local haulier.
The award is an acknowledgment of the professionalism and dedication of the Truswell drivers and management who have so admirably demonstrated their ability to embrace the operational disciplines of the TDG/Corus National Transport Platform.

Below is the text sent via e-mail to Truswell Haulage congratulating a driver on his excellent road manners.
The driver in question is Andrew Wing, showing that it really is the drivers who are the ambassadors of the company.
Hello,
I'm sorry if I'm contacting Truswells in the wrong way, but I wanted to record my thanks for the courtesy shown by one of your drivers.
Although I am a car driver I also cycle a lot. Last Wednesday, 14 November, I was cycling north along the A6 between Matlock and Bakewell. One of your vehicles came up behind me but, the road being busy, he kept well back and waited for several minutes before overtaking me (giving me adequate space when doing so). Too many drivers, trucks and cars, drive too close when following and when overtaking so I was very impressed with his consideration. I hope it is typical of all your drivers.
Your driver came up behind me near the Whitworth Institute on the A6 in Darley Dale; he eventually overtook me near the Shalimar restaurant approaching Rowsley. Time 14.43
If you can identify the driver from this info, please thank him for doing the right thing, and for his patience.
Thanks
Martin Jones
Well done to Andy and a big thank you from the directors and staff for raising the public's perception of our company and its employees.
Andy has been rewarded with a Corgi model of a Truswell Haulage tractor and trailer combination.
Truswell Haulage Goes GreenTruswell Haulage has recently purchased 9 new tractor units with Euro 5 classification engines. These engines not only exceed the current low exhaust emissions legislation but also comply with even more stringent legislation that becomes law in October 2008. To meet these standards the vehicles use Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology. In short this is an additive injected into the engine exhaust stream immediately after the combustion chamber converting harmful exhaust gases into nitrogen and water. The additive is called Adblue.
Each new vehicle can be spotted by not only having a fuel tank, but alongside has a secondary tank to hold Adblue, the tank also has a blue cap. A Euro 5 Badge can also be seen on the cab
Truswell Haulage has invested in this new technology to reduce their carbon footprint; it means we are also reducing the carbon footprint of our customers.
Therefore by using Truswell Haulage for your logistics solutions you are constantly reducing your Carbon footprint and doing your bit, to save the environment for future generations to enjoy.
In September 2006 Truswell Haulage delivered this enormous tractor to the Top Gear Studios at Dunsford Park Surrey where it was featured in one of its programmes.
The tractor is a Case Steiger Quad-Trac STX530, which develops a staggering 500-horse power it weighs just short of 25 tonnes, holds 1136 litres of fuel and costs in excess of £200,000.00.
